  • attractive but flawed design Ive had this cup for a couple of years. I like the premise and the measuring method. However the design has one major flaw which makes the cup really irritating and undercuts its accuracy. That is the fact that it does not pour properly. Unless you are measuring into a large container and hold the cup over the container when pouring it will spill quite a considerable amount. I think its because the white ring runs too close to the pour spout resulting in liquid flowing over a wider part of the rim. Last night daughter and I were measuring alcohol for liqueurmaking and pouring the measured alcohol from the cup into wide rimmed canning jars. In every case quite a lot of liquid spilled onto the table there was no way to pour in a small stream from this cup. So be careful when using this or your recipe may be compromised.
It's a plastic cup I love the concept of looking down and seeing the volume gradient but I find that in practice I don't use it that much because it's plastic and I wont use it in the microwave I often use measuring cups to mix things in and because of the ridge on the inside of the cup that's a bit awkward.
A Must. The design is fantastic it really makes measuring incredibly easy. This thing is pretty much a must for any kitchen.
poor pouring Yes this item is convenient at measuring liquids. However it sucks at pouring liquids. No matter how careful I am liquids spill out the sides onto the counter. I ONLY use it for measuring solids. There must be a better allrounds measuring cup.
Cool Measuring Cup After reading all the reviews that are somewhat dated I decided to check the measuring accuracy and found it fine. Perhaps it's been improved over the last couple years. This is perfect for everyday use for me sans boiling hot liquids. I personally prefer glass for the boiling liquids. Thank you OXO.
Hairline crack formed A hairline crack formed in a star formation centered on the bottom of the cup.At this price expecting it to last longer than 2 yrs.
OXO Loves Senior Citizens Nice to be able to use a measuring cup without adding deleting adding etc. You don't have to hold the cup to the light to see if you've got the right measurement and it doesn't matter if you've got a shakey handgreat for any age. Highly recommend the 2 cup as an overall perfect size.
One trick pony I had hopes that this would help me measure more accurately than the old style cups with the measuring lines on the side. This is more convenient to use because you can measure from a normal standing position. No squatting to see the measure and having the water or any liquid source above your head. I usually measure water from a filtered pitcher.I use ounce measures all the time. But like almost all cups this size the ounce measures are in 2 ounce groupings. To measure out 19 ounces is totally by estimate. It is not a question of getting the liquid up to the line there is no line. This is like having quarter cups as the smallest measure. This cup is no better a tool for accurate measure than any other cup.One more issue. If you are pouring liquid slowly from this cup you will have a problem as you get to the bottom. The liquid will not flow smoothly. The measuring ridge will impede the flow of liquid making it harder to use this for pouring. This is a limited use toy. You can measure in it. But if you need to mix something into the liquid you need to pour the liquid into another vessel. If pouring slowly or precisely you need to pour from something other than this. I use this cup strictly to measure water which I then pour into something else where I can mix to do whatever.
Doesn't last This is the second one of these I have owned. This one lasted just a little over a year. The bottom cracks and it leaks. I did put it in the dishwasher and really don't want a baking tool that can not be put in the dishwasher. I thought it said dishwasher safe. Back to a glass measuring cup for me. I have owned and used some of those for 30 years.
Handle broke off after 1 fall from counter to floor I purchased this measuring cup with great expectations which were quickly shattered by a fall from the kitchen counter onto the floor. The handle broke off the measuring cup when it hit the floor. I also agree with other reviewers that this measuring cup does not handle fats very well and its spout does not pour very well.
